In commercial real estate circles, it is often said that Calkain Cos. executives Jonathan Hipp and David Sobelman wrote the book on net lease investing. Now, that reference can be taken literally.

Sobelman, Calkain's executive vice president in Tampa, collaborated with Hipp, president and CEO of the Reston, Va.-based firm, on “The Little Book of Triple Net Lease Investing.”

Both have written numerous articles and columns on the subject over the last several years, and they promote their book as the first for lay investors focusing on the property type, which largely includes standalone restaurants and pharmacies.

“When we work with an investor that is a virtual neophyte to net lease properties, there are dozens of points of communications with that individual before an actual investment is made,” says Sobelman, who appears on the cover of the Business Review's Sept. 24 issue.

The book includes real-life examples of asset acquisitions, sample purchase contracts and explanations of the transaction protocol that will allow investors a clear understanding of the benefits and pitfalls of net leased properties.

The 168-page paperback book is priced at $19.99, published by CreateSpace and available through Amazon.com.
