TAMPA — The World Trade Center Tampa Bay received approval from the Cuban government for six travel days — Sept. 24 through Sept. 29 — for a business delegation trip from Tampa to Havana. The WTC-TB is now seeking applications from local businesspeople to fill 35 spots for the upcoming venture.
Participants will be individually matched with representatives of the Cuban government to promote talks, according to Stephen Michelini, who is organizing the trip. Costs are still being finalized, but Michelini hopes the delegation represents one of the first flights from Tampa to Cuba.
Delegates will need to complete a pre-qualification process to have their participation approved by the U.S. government, and then a full application must be submitted to vet the focus of each applicant's business interests. Ground travel and lodging will be included, Michelini says.
Additional information is available through the WTC-TB, which can be reached via email at [email protected].
