TAMPA — Mayor Bob Buckhorn created an Economic Competitiveness Committee for Tampa, asking the 18-member group to review the city's permitting and regulatory processes to identify potential improvements.
“Now more than ever we need to make sure that Tampa is known as a place that is open for business,” Buckhorn says in a prepared statement.
The focus will be on streamlining current procedures to make Tampa more attractive to new businesses, the city's official statement says, with the ultimate goal to accelerate the city's economic growth.
The 18 members of the committee are:

• Elizabeth Abernethy, WilsonMiller Stantec;
• Michael Brooks, Michael Brooks P.A.;
• Adam Carnegie, WilsonMiller Stantec;
• Chuck Davis, MetLife Real Estate Investments;
• Jennifer Doerfell, Tampa Bay Builders Assoc.;
• Brenda Dohring Hicks, The Dohring Group;
• Bill Duvall, Neighborhood Representative;
• Toxey Hall, Clearview Land Design;
• Rick Harcrow, Newland Communities;
• Mark House, The Beck Group;
• Greg Iglehart, GWI Investments, Inc.;
• Mickey Jacob, Urban Studio Architects;
• Debra Koehler, Sage Partners, LLC;
