Cosmetic surgery product supplier names new CFO

Tara Semb joins Clearwater-based Bovie Medical Corp.

CLEARWATER — Bovie Medical Corp., a Clearwater-based maker of medical supplies and devices for cosmetic surgery practices, named Tara Semb as chief financial officer.

According to a press release, prior to joining Bovie Medical, Semb served as CFO of AVAIL Vapor LLC, a manufacturer and retailer of e-liquid for use in electronic vapor devices, from 2015 to 2018. She began her career in 1991 as an auditor at Price Waterhouse.

“Ms. Semb’s career history includes executive level experience as the chief financial officer for a rapidly growing company in the consumer market, and she has also held senior positions on the finance team at a large, diversified global manufacturing company with significant commercial scale and profitability,” Bovie Medical CEO Charlie Goodwin states in the release. “I look forward to working closely with her as we continue to position Bovie Medical for its next stage of growth.”

Semb, in the release, adds, “Bovie Medical is an impressive organization with a compelling growth opportunity in the cosmetic surgery market. I am excited to join the company at a time that I believe represents an important inflection point in its history.”

Bovie Medical Corp. recently announced that it would change its name to Apyx Medical Corp. and move its stock to the NASDAQ exchange under the ticket symbol APYX, effective Jan. 2, 2019.
