Big banks, energy company donate to area relief fund

The Community Foundation of Collier County has now distributed $340,000.

NAPLES — Two banks and an energy company have given a boost to the Community Foundation of Collier County's Collier Comes Together Coronavirus Relief Fund, with a combined $85,000 donation.

The Fifth Third Foundation donated $50,000; Bank of America donated $25,000; and Florida Power & Light Co. donated $10,000, according to a statement.

Along with a rally of community support, the Community Foundation of Collier County has now distributed $340,000 to date, the release adds. Funds for food, basic needs, housing assistance, medical supplies and technology have been distributed to organizations working on the frontlines of the crisis. Those groups include Salvation Army Naples, Collier County Public Schools, NCH Healthcare System, Collier County Emergency Management and Legal Aid of Collier County.

"We are humbled and honored by the generosity of the donations and the trust these organizations have placed in us to provide aid to the community in the face of this pandemic," says Eileen Connolly-Keesler, Community Foundation of Collier County President and CEO, in the statement. "With help from caring organizations like Fifth Third Foundation, Bank of America, and FPL, we will not only overcome this crisis; we will come out stronger." 

The Community Foundation of Collier County established the Collier Comes Together Fund to address the coronavirus outbreak and distribute resources as effectively as possible. Donations are tax-deductible and 100% of all funds will be distributed for coronavirus relief with no administrative fees. 

Donations to the Collier Comes Together Fund can be made online at cfcollier.org or by mailing a check to the Community Foundation of Collier County at 1110 Pine Ridge Road, Suite 200, Naples 34108. If sending a check, please enter "Collier Comes Together" in the memo line.

The Community Foundation of Collier County is a tax-exempt public charitable organization, established in 1985. The foundation manages more than 750 funds, collaborates with hundreds of nonprofits, holds $225 million in assets and has distributed over $168 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and community programs since its inception.
