AMEC, an Atlanta-based engineering firm with $3.9 billion in annual revenues, bought BCI Engineering and Scientists Inc., a Lakeland-based firm with offices in Tampa and Plant City.

BCI employs 200 engineers, scientists and other professionals throughout the country. The company operates a fourth Florida office in Palatka, and also owns locations in Colorado, Michigan, and Missouri.

In joining AMEC, BCI's employees will be added to a staff of roughly 23,000 workers. AMEC provides engineering and project management services to clients in 40 countries.

Richard Powers, president at BCI, said the deal “adds value for our clients and our staff,” and will provide “new technical and professional opportunities.” BCI was established more than 30 years ago.
