Executives at Oswald Trippe were taken aback recently when BB&T announced it was acquiring the Fort Myers-based insurance company.
Although the deal was done, Oswald Trippe didn't have a news release to distribute and executives with the insurance company declined to discuss the deal when it was announced Oct. 2 by BB&T.
The terms of the deal for the employee-owned company were not disclosed. Besides its headquarters in Fort Myers, the company has offices in Sarasota, Cape Coral and Naples on the Gulf Coast. It has four other Florida locations and another four offices in North Carolina, BB&T's home state.
