Akerman, the Miami-based law firm that opened a high-profile office at Mercato in Naples in 2011, is rearranging the leadership of that office.

Jonathan Gopman, who opened the Naples office of Akerman from scratch as the managing partner in 2011, has been appointed chair of the firm's estates and trust practice. He succeeds Rick Hurt, who will continue to handle trust and estate matters.

Meanwhile, George Powell has been named the firm's managing partner of the Naples office. Powell is known in Southwest Florida for his real estate expertise in areas such as valuation, land use and taxation.

Also, Elizabeth Morgan, a leading expert on expatriation and international transactions, will head the family office team that includes attorneys from various disciplines, including trusts and estates.
