Jeff Mulder, a 28-year veteran of the airport operations industry, has been named executive director of the Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field. He will begin work on Jan. 1, according to an announcement from the Lee County Port Authority.

For the past 11 years, Mulder has directed airport operations at three airports in Tulsa, Okla., and was also that city's director of transportation from 2009 through 2013. He also worked previously at airports in Wisconsin, Louisiana and Indiana.

Mulder was recently national chair for the American Association of Airport Executives, an industry trade group, and was named by Airport Revenue News as the “Airport Director of the Year” for 2016.

Additionally, Mulder is an “Accredited Airport Executive,” earned an MBA degree from a Wisconsin college and holds a commercial pilot's license. He is also a certified flight instructor.

He says he hopes to “continue the outstanding record of success the airports have demonstrated throughout the years.”

“After an extensive national search, we believe Jeff Mulder is an excellent choice to direct the administration and oversee operations at both our airports, as well as provide the leadership and vision necessary to take us into the future,” says Frank Mann, chair of Lee County's Board of Port Commissioners.
