Airport traffic jumps

FORT MYERS — Passenger traffic through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers rose 7.5% in November compared with the same month one year ago.

According to the Lee County Port Authority, 658,629 passengers passed through the Fort Myers airport in November. Airlines added flights as the airport reported a 5.1% increase in takeoffs and landings.

Despite the increase in November, the year-to-date passenger traffic remains down 2.9% compared with the same 11 months in 2011.

Delta was the airline leader in Fort Myers in November with 143,388 passengers. AirTran, JetBlue, USAirways, and Southwest rounded out the top five airlines by number of passengers.
