FORT MYERS — Passenger counts continue to break records at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.
The latest figures: 810,285 travelers arrived and departed on flights in November, an increase of 5.6% over November 2017. That increase reflects year-to-date gains in passenger count, which is also up 5.6% over the year prior at 8.4 million, according to a statement.
Southwest Airlines carried the most passengers in November with 148,114 traveling to and from the airport, under the call letters RSW. Southwest was followed by Delta with 126,275 passengers, American Airlines with 116,176, Spirit Airlines at 100,829 and JetBlue with 96,376.
The airport also reported an increase in aircraft operations in November with 7,252 arrivals and departures, an increase of 3.9% over November 2017. In addition, Page Field in Fort Myers had 9,293 operations, a 19.4% increase over November 2017. Just more than 2.8 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in November 2018, down slightly from 2.9 million pounds in November 2017.
