PUNTA GORDA — Punta Gorda Airport announced a new seasonal nonstop route to Omaha, Neb., from Allegiant Air.
The service begins Dec. 14. With the addition of the Omaha route, Allegiant now has nonstop service to 40 cities through Punta Gorda Airport, according to a press release.
“We are delighted to grow our Allegiant network and welcome service to and from Omaha,” says Punta Gorda Airport CEO James Parish in a statement. “With this addition, we will be able to offer great seasonal travel options connecting the Midwest and Southwest Florida.”
Each new route added at the airport contributes to the creation of 50 new jobs, according to a recent economic impact study cited in a press release. It also says each new route will generate an annual total of $4.5 million in visitor spending.
The passenger count at Punta Gorda Airport for the 12 months ending on Sept. 30, 2017 was 1,158,262.
