The city of Sarasota has hired a Pompano Beach-based economic consulting firm to create a market analysis that will serve as the basis for its strategic plan. Sarasota is conducting the analysis to understand current and anticipated market conditions, city officials say.

Redevelopment Management Associates will be reviewing economic data as well as conducting site visits in Sarasota, including meeting with residents, business owners and local economic development partners to gain insight into the potential that exists in the city.

Among the objectives of the study are identifying redevelopment opportunities, land availability, workforce capability and targeted industries, according to RMA.

“RMA has helped revitalize numerous cities and [community redevelopment agency] districts throughout the state, and we are honored to now be working with the beautiful City of Sarasota,” RMA Senior Project Manager Adriane Esteban says in a statement. “We see tremendous potential for economic advancement within Sarasota, while preserving its serene beauty and natural charm.”

Miami, North Port, Naples, Winter Park and West Palm Beach are among the cities that have enlisted help from RMA.

The study is expected to be complete by October.
