Airport sets new records in May

At 725,754, Southwest Florida International Airport serves 8.5% more passengers than in May 2018. Year-to-date count up 9.6% over prior year.

FORT MYERS — Passenger count records continued falling at Southwest Florida International Airport in May as 725,754 travelers passed through the Fort Myers airport, an increase of 8.5% over May 2018, according to a release. In addition, year-to-date passenger traffic at RSW is up 9.6% over the same period 2018.

Delta Air Lines served the most travelers in May with 187,907 traveling to and from Fort Myers. Delta was followed by Southwest (141,576), American (122,639), JetBlue (85,852) and United (83,586).

Aircraft operations were also up in May at 6,018, an increase of 3.7% over to May 2018. In addition, Page Field in Fort Myers saw 9,294 aircraft operations, a whopping 29.8% increase over May 2018. In all, more than 3 million pounds of air freight moved through RSW in May.

In 2018, RSW served nearly 9.4 million passengers in 2018 and is ranked one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
