PUNTA GORDA — Allegiant has begun service to and from three new cities at Punta Gorda Airport. Flights are now available between PGD and Omaha, Neb., Syracuse N.Y., and Appleton, Wisc.

“We’re excited about the addition of these three new seasonal routes to Punta Gorda Airport’s flight schedule,” says Punta Gorda Airport CEO James Parish in a statement. “PGD and our community partners are gearing up for several busy months of seasonal visitors and property owners.”

The three new routes are expected to bring in nearly 27,000 new visitors annually to Southwest Florida, the release states. Allegiant now serves 42 nonstop routes to PGD.

“Although our area’s popularity as a vacation destination has steadily increased in recent years, there are still many around the country who are not aware of our hidden gem here in Southwest Florida,” says Sean Doherty of Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor and Convention Bureau. “Opening up direct connections to these markets will help us promote our unique vacation product to these potential visitors.”
